Currency Circulation

The 115 coins on display are intended to give visitors a general overview of the coinage discovered and to familiarize them with the main denominations of the Roman monetary system.

The distribution of issuing centers reflects the evolution of the Empire, reaching its greatest expansion during the 4th century and an extreme recession in the following century, definitively marked by the victory of the barbarian invaders. It is interesting to note, however, that relations with Rome continued until the final collapse of power in the West.
